Signing up
Get connected to the Chemistry Learning Center – an important
tool for success in first year chemistry! Students who make regular use of
the Chemistry Learning Center tend to get better grades, at least a half grade
higher or more than those who don’t.
The Chemistry Learning Center offers individual weekly appointments,
team learning groups, walk-in assistance, a study area and resources (old
exams, etc.)
If you would like to have an appointment or team learning group,
enroll in CH0011. Students in any first year chemistry
class can enroll in CH0011. (Note that there is no tuition cost associated with CH0011 because it is zero-credit--satisfactory/unsatisfactory based on attendance).
It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3…
Step 1- During registration
When you register for classes during orientation week, enroll in CH0011.
(If you forget, you can still add during the first week of class if space
is still available.)
Step 2- During the first week of class
During the first week of class, stop by the CLC between 8:00 am – 5:00
pm to sign up for a time that fits your schedule for one of the following:
- an individual appointment (1/2 hour per week)
- a pair appointment (1/2 hour)
- a mini-team (2-3 people, 1 hour a week)
- a team learning group (6 people meet for 3 hours a week)
You can choose whichever option suits you and your schedule
the best.
Step 3- Appointments & teams begin the second week of
class
Appointments and teams begin to meet the second week of class,
starting on Tuesday due to Labor Day weekend. Come to the CLC at the time
you signed up for and you will meet your chemistry coach. You will meet with
the same person/team at the same time for the entire semester. The coaches
are friendly, undergraduates who are familiar with the courses.
