Gas Chromatograph
Shimadzu 5050A Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer.
The Chemistry Department acquired a QP 5050A Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer. The instrument has a direct insertion probe and the instrument can operate in three different ionization modes - electron impact (EI), positive chemical ionization (PCI) and negative chemical ionization (NCI). The instrument is equipped with a direct insertion probe accessory to bypass the GC equipment and introduce samples directly into the ion chamber.
The funding that paid for this instrument
came from the Michigan Tech start up funds.
Technical Data:
CI-50 chemical ionization controller allowing for
both positive and negative ions.
DI-50 direct insertion option allows for GC bypass.
GC17A gas chromatograph.
Mass range M/Z = 10 to 920.
Sensitivities S/N :
60 for M/Z 298 of Methyl Stearate EI
60 for M/Z 183 of Benzophenone PCI
80 for M/Z 284 of Hexachlorobenzene NCI
Max detector temp 350 deg C.
