Chemistry Students
Our chemistry department is involved in a wide variety
of research projects where undergraduate students are strongly
encouraged to participate. Many of our students have presented
their work at national meetings and published their
reseach in the chemical literature. There is no better way to
increase our students marketability than to encourage them to
do research on problems that intrigue them under the guidance
of a highly skilled research mentor.
The laboratories for our undergraduate students
are well equpped to provide an excellent learning experience for
our chemistry majors.
Our department also boasts a large study and computer room with windows
overlooking the Portage Canal. This room is exclusively for use by students,
has areas for class work and projects as well as sofas for relaxing between
classes.
The Michigan Tech chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is a very
active group that has won national awards for their activities.
The student affiliate engages students of all levels who are interested
in chemistry. They are involved in outreach programs, research competitions,
National Chemistry Week and even attend national conventions. The student
affiliate is a great place to make friends and get involved.
