Career Planning
All of the MTU chemistry degrees provide excellent preparation for a wide variety of careers and continuing studies. We encourage you to talk to your academic or undergraduate research advisor to discuss your career planning.
Research and Internship Opportunities
All faculty members in the department accept undergraduate research students who enroll in CH4990 or CH4995. Consult with individual professors about space availability and prerequisites for work in their lab. Many off-campus research internships exist for chemistry students. More information.
Pre-Medicine or Other Health-Related Professional Programs
All chemistry majors who plan to go on to medical or other health-related
professional programs should also meet as soon as possible with the
Director of Pre-Health Professions Studies. The director will assist
students in planning for and applying to these programs. For more
information, please visit: http://www.bio.mtu.edu/pre_health/pre_med.htm.
Pre-Law
Some of our chemistry majors are planning to go to law school. Michigan
Tech has pre-law advising for anyone who is considering law school. For
further information, go to http://www.prelaw.mtu.edu.
Undergraduate Chemistry Courses
A course prerequisite tree for the courses offered by the Chemistry Department is shown to the right. The prerequisite tree shows the course flow within the department and does not represent a sequence of courses leading to any specific Chemistry option, degree program, or recommended course of study. You can click on the course numbers in the tree to read the course description for a given course, or go to the Class Pages and MTU Course Info page to read about all the courses offered within the department, including graduate classes having course numbers above 5000. |
