Salaries of chemists advanced significantly in 2001 for all professional levels. For 2001, median salaries for chemistry professionals were reported as $55,000 (B.S.), $65,000 (M.S.), and $82,200 (Ph.D.). Source: Chemical and Engineering News, November 12, 2001.
Michigan Tech. chemists are involved in research in prestigious labs and corporations around the state and nation. Recent M.S. and Ph.D. chemistry graduates are employed at highly respected institutions such as Merck Pharmaceuticals, Kimberly Clark Corporation, and Dow Corning, just to name a few, or have gone on for further graduate education or post-doc positions at the Argonne National Labaratory, Harvard, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Virginia Tech.
