Chemistry Personal Webpage

All chemistry students have webspace available on the department's servers. This space can be used to post resumes and academic information, list hobbies, or display pictures. The webpages must comply with the department's computer use policy. Creating the webpage is very easy:

  1. Create a main page for your website and call it 'index.html'. Pages can be created in Netscape Composer, Microsoft Word (save as HTML), or many other applications. A good HTML tutorial is available at www.w3schools.com.
  2. Save 'index.html' to the base folder of your W:\ drive (Windows machines only). If you have not previously made a webpage here, there will be a default 'index.html' file in the folder. Override this file.
  3. Create the rest of your webpage in this folder or in subfolders.
  4. View your webpage at http://www.chemistry.mtu.edu/~userid (Userid is your login name or your email address without '@mtu.edu').
